Lea’s Happy List #1

I stumbled upon this post on Carina’s blog (you can see her post here, but Camie originally created this blog series so you can check her list here ) in which she wrote a bunch of things that made her happy. It’s short and sweet, which made it easy for me to follow suit and make my own “happy list.” In terms of “happy posts” on social media, I feel like making my own happy lists would be a lot more fun, and a lot less tedious than the others. Anyway, here’s a bunch of things that made me happy recently:

  1. Parks and Recreation.
  2. Reigniting an old passion (writing) and resurrecting my blog (expect weekly posts from now on! Or daily posts).
  3. Having my own room again, after three years of sharing a bedroom with my brother.
  4. #teleseryecommentary + watching teleseryes with the family
  5. Finished reading Sophia Amoruso’s #GIRLBOSS, and picked up a bunch of life lessons.
  6. A nice schedule this semester (with lots of free time!)
  7. Fried rice with Spam and scrambled eggs.
  8. Reading beauty blogs and watching makeup tutorials on YouTube!
  9. Reconnecting with old friends.
  10. Being less apprehensive and more gutsy when being presented with opportunities or tasks!

I guess a lot of things have been making me happy recently, such as watching TV, and breakfast food. There’s just something really therapeutic about watching TV while eating breakfast food, even if it’s not breakfast time.

Throwback Thursday: Old (Musical) Favorites

In the spirit of Throwback Thursday, here are some songs that I considered as my favorites back then.  These songs are at least two years old already, and feel free to enjoy and reminisce (?). Apologies in advance if my musical taste may seem a little too random at times.

Say Somethin’- Mariah Carey

First of all, I am not a huge Mariah Carey fan (I actually find her annoying). However, no one can deny that The Emancipation of Mimi is probably one of the best albums of the 2000s. I used to like this song a lot because it’s catchy…and the Pharrell cameo made it awesome.  If you ask me about the video, I sometimes wish that Pharrell and Mariah would end up together because of the following reasons:

1) They are close in age, and they both found the secret to youth.

2) They’re going to churn one hit after another because Mariah’s a vocal powerhouse and Pharrell is just good at many things.

(sorry if it’s a bit TL;dr)

Day N’ Nite- Kid Cudi

I LOVE Kid Cudi. He’s one of my favorite rappers, and I think this song was the one that got me interested in his music.  And oh, he recently collaborated with Haim, which makes him even more awesome!! Check out their performance of Red Eye during this year’s Coachella below:

Friendly Fires- Hurting

  • Feels,  and nothing but feels everywhere whenever I listen to this song. ‘Nuff said.

Beyonce- Party

*insert “BEYONCE!!!!” here*

Beyonce never ceases to amaze me. She can do no wrong, and this song was one of my favorites from her album, 4.

The XX- Chained

This song is my favorite from The XX’s second album, Coexist.  It’s one of those many songs that get you into ~~*feels territory*~~.

My Chemical Romance– You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison

When I was in sixth grade, I had a huge My Chemical Romance phase. If I remember correctly, I was blasting their music almost everyday, and it became a huge feature in my conversations with one of my old friends. Looking back, I do not regret this musical phase because it actually influenced my future musical preferences, despite the emo frenzy that came along with it.

Review: Collection Cosmetics Lasting Colour Lipstick in Vintage Rose

Disclaimer: I am not a beauty blogger. I’m just dabbling in a few things that I like.

Just recently, I lost one of my favorite lipsticks, which is Revlon’s Colorburst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle. This lipstick of mine has been a staple in my bag for a couple of months now, and I got really bummed when it suddenly melted because of the heat (I still feel a sense of buyer’s remorse after losing it because it costs around Php 500 and it drained my savings). But I have to move on, and replace it with a new one. Luckily, I found a replacement in the form of Collection Cosmetics’ Lasting Colour Lipstick in Vintage Rose (Php 199, available at Landmark and The Ramp). Check out some pictures of the lipstick below:

When I first tried this on,  the lipstick immediately reminded me of Revlon’s Colorburst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle, except that it’s a little lighter and pinker.  It’s also a lot more pigmented than the former, however, it still yields a natural look even when you swipe it on for a few times. I love the fact that the shade is very versatile, you can wear it to school, to a party, or during off days. It is also a great neutral that can be mixed with other lip colors, which I sometimes do in order to create a custom shade.

In terms of wear time,  it lasts on me for around two to three hours. The lipstick’s name is actually a misnomer, since its staying power is actually quite short for a lipstick that is marketed as a long-wearing one.  Another feature that I find interesting in this lipstick is its sweet smell, however, it comes off as distracting when I put it on.  I feel like the lipstick is better off unscented or with a subtler, more soothing smell, such as peppermint.

The bottom line is, I love this lipstick. It is now one of my go-to everyday lip colors, and I have this huge feeling that I might stock up on this soon when the time comes. A budget-friendly lippie with good quality? Consider it solved.

A Few Life Updates

I haven’t written anything decent in the past week, so allow me to post a few life updates (even if they are in bullet points):

  • I FINALLY FINISHED MY INTERNSHIP! I’m not going to say a lot about my whole internship experience (because of certain technicalities), but I’m going to say that I learned a lot during my two-month stint there. I was able to hone new skills, rediscover old passions (hello, blogging!), and meet interesting people in the process.

(I don’t have a lot of pictures from my internship, but the message on this lanyard struck me)

  • One of the television shows that I enjoy right now is Parks and Recreation. I love the characters in the show, especially Ron Swanson. Check out this video featuring some of his best moments here:

  • School is starting in two weeks…and I obviously have very mixed feelings about it. There’s a part of me that’s really excited about it, but there is also another part of me that’s also scared of the future.
  • Speaking of school, I recently enlisted for my classes this coming semester. I got a really interesting mix of classes (and professors), plus my schedule is very manageable because I have a lot of free time! However, I’m going to use my free time to do schoolwork!
