One Big Five: The Bonfire Photodiary

After a tough semester, I finally had the time to unwind and let loose at this year’s bonfire! In my previous post, the Ateneo Blue Eagles won their FIFTH straight title in basketball this year, and the bonfire was a fitting way to celebrate their victory in the UAAP (along with the other teams that won championships this season)! Anyway, here are some of the pictures from the bonfire last night:

The Clingy Club was incomplete last night 😦

With my very happy, left-handed South friends. (Yes, we take HUGE pride in being left-handed)  Anyway, this was taken before the actual bonfire itself!

Kiefer Ravena’s got moves. No, seriously!

Hello, Jam!

Rico Blanco! I have to admit, his getup was pretty strange, but he delivered an awesome performance!

Greg Slaughter

Yael Yuzon! I have so much pictures of Yael in my camera, I think I might have to make a “Yael Yuzon appreciation post” in the future HAHAHA

The best part about the bonfire —— approaching the players without any hint of awkwardness, even if you’re batchmates with some of them! (Random fact: I’m batchmates with Kiefer Ravena, and Nico Elorde is my blockmate!) And yes… fangirling tendencies have been unleashed, after a year!

Finally Legal

I just turned 18! When I was a kid, I looked forward to being an 18-year old. I expected that my 18-year old self would be an independent, mature, and smart version of myself. Fast forward to my now 18-year old self, and looking at myself, I think I’m on my way to being the smart, mature, and independent Lea that I once dreamed of, despite the bumps that come along the way. And why yes, the kid in me likes to pop out once in a while.

Anyway, allow me to digress. Let me share what happened yesterday. It was actually surprising that this week started on a good note for me! It’s actually good starting the day the right way—- being thankful, and being happy for everything.

(warning: another photo-heavy post)

Moving on, here’s a rundown of what happened yesterday:

My friend Chandra made this birthday letter for me last Sunday (the day of my actual birthday). Her birthday message was quite touching. :3 I also passed my Spanish exam and my History reflection paper! The results were not that good, but hey, I passed! Will work even harder!

On the other hand, my friend Jow gave me a copy of One Day! I’m not really, really into romance novels, but I think this book will turn things around. And oh, my best friend is a bit of a psychic: She got me this version of One Day, since I love Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess.

Finally, I spent the afternoon at Yellow Cab with my friends Chandra, David, Jow and Via! When this picture was taken, Chandra and Jow already left, so I was left with David and Via. We had too much fun with my laptop’s webcam….and I think this is the most decent picture we have.

And I’m ending this post with the Spice Girls’ performance from the closing ceremony of this year’s Olympics!

Okay, I just realized that I am very productive at this time of the day.  I mean, this is my third blog entry, and I have finally started on my research paper for English. And I’m reviewing for ES at the same time too! I think I need to stock up on a lot of caffeine, and probably food…so I can survive this week. I also need to declutter my dorm space when I go back there later. (I’ve been holding this off for too long)

Good night.

Last night, I slept at 6 pm…and woke up at 7 am. 13 hours of interrupted sleep. Then this afternoon, I took a nap. Twice. How awesome. It just shows that I’ve been deprived of sleep ever since I went to college. Anyway, off to study for ES. And pull an all-nighter for my research paper. (Even if my dad does not allow me to do one)

Valentine’s Day

Just so you know, I usually spend Valentine’s Day with my friends (since I don’t have an actual Valentine), or I spend it by myself, and have an eating spree. This year’s Valentine’s Day was a bit different. I actually did both! I spent it with my friends (and new ones at that), and had an eating spree!

Now, allow me to share what happened last Tuesday.

My Tuesday started pretty slow. As usual, I left the dorm early, to meet up with my friends for breakfast. Before going to my 9 am class, my friend Via and I saw a guy posting notes on a bunch of lockers! (So sweet.) As usual, I had class. Suddenly, my friend Ria texted me that she’s going to Taft. I asked if I could tag along, and then things sort of snowballed from there. After my Math class, I went to UP to meet up with Ria, and her friends, Rollane and John. We first went to UST, and kind of hung out there. I also saw some of my high school classmates there too! After going to UST, we went to Taft, and had dinner at Bonchon in University Mall! (Rollane, John and I served as support/chaperones for Ria’s “date”)

Rollane, Ria, me, and John!

This picture was taken before or after (?) (not sure) playing Monopoly Deal! And spot me with my new short hairstyle! (More on that in a future post)  Anyway, after having dinner, we played a round of Monopoly Deal, and played Rock Band afterwards! Rock Band actually proved how horrible my reflexes are, and at the same time, showed my horrible singing. (I got 100% after singing Lasso, though). I actually had fun the whole day! Thanks guys! Next time ulit?

Blogging Backlog

Apologies for the lack of blog posts. I’ve been busy with school lately! I’m so sorry! I should really update this blog more often. Anyway, I’m allowed to squeeze a blog entry in between writing papers for my Filipino and Literature classes, right? And as of this writing, I’m about to start on my lab report for my Environmental Science class, so allow me to squeeze in a blog entry (or two).

January went by so quickly, so allow me to post some pictures from last month!

Hello there, David. :)) (And oh look, I still have long-ish hair!) This picture was taken during A-Comm’s Got Talent!

I took this picture during the Ateneo College Fair. It’s quite amusing to see that the trash cans are labeled with memes! I wanted to get the labels though. 😦

Chandra and Via! (They’re not a lesbian couple, by the way.)

With Luis and Clara during Rapture!

Okay, I need to seriously update this blog. I will probably post something about Valentine’s Day later. Haha!

Thought Catalog, and probably everything else in between.

For the past few weeks or so on Tumblr and Twitter, I’ve been posting random stuff about Thought Catalog. Just so you know, Thought Catalog is an online magazine that tackles all sorts of topics, such as culture, and life in general. But anyway, I like reading articles on this website, especially their articles on life, love, and college. A bunch of articles on I’ve read about life recently made me think about things. Not just about myself, but the things that I engage in, and the people I am with. If you ask me about my favorite articles on Thought Catalog, here’s a list:

Anyway, I think I had fun listing my favorite articles on Thought Catalog. I chose these articles for obvious reasons: One, I’m a college freshman. Two, I’m growing up, and I think in one way or another, I could relate to the articles. And three, so many changes have happened in my life over the past six months (Naks!), and this is an attempt to be sentimental about these changes, by relating articles on Thought Catalog with things that have happened in my life. (HAHAHAHA)

Idle Tuesday

When I woke up yesterday, I woke up to the news that classes have been suspended in the Ateneo, due to the typhoon. I was actually excited to go to school yesterday, but since classes were suspended, I actually spent my day inside the dorm premises. I spent the day by sleeping, cleaning up, eating, and room-hopping! I also watched some episodes of The Big Bang Theory, and studied Math and Lit. Yay for productivity on a rainy day!

On an unrelated note, let us pray for the people who were affected by Typhoon Pedring yesterday. 😦
